Joint Congress of
ESPE and ESE 2025

Copenhagen, Denmark. 10-13 May 2025

Anne-Simone Parent

Prof Anne-Simone Parent is Head of Paediatric Department at University of Liège in Belgium. Being a paediatric endocrinologist, she focuses on bridging clinical and laboratory research. Her research group studies the effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals on the development of the central nervous system. She is also the chair of the EU EDC task force of the Endocrine Society and Member of the EDC working Group of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology.

Joëlle Rüegg

Joëlle Rüegg is professor of environmental toxicology at Uppsala University, Sweden. Her research focuses on deciphering molecular mechanisms underlying developmental effects of endocrine disruptors and chemical mixtures. She is and has been coordinating large interdisciplinary EU projects that have led to novel approaches for risk assessing mixtures of endocrine disruptors and for chemicals testing to identify endocrine disruption-induced developmental neurotoxicity.

Paul Speight

Paul Speight is the Head of the Safe and Sustainable Chemicals Unit in DG Environment of the European Commission.

Before that he was Acting Director of Directorate E, dealing with compliance, governance and support to Member States.

Prior to that he was the Head of the enforcement Unit and was the Brexit negotiator and co-ordinator of EU-UK issues for DG Environment.

In previous posts at the European Commission he was Deputy Head of the agriculture and land use unit, Deputy Head of the Biotechnology, Pesticides and Health Unit and before that he dealt with the revision of the Waste Framework Directive and the development of green public procurement in the EU.

He holds law degrees from Liverpool and Bordeaux Universities.

Maria Street

Professor Maria Street graduated in medicine at the University of Parma in 1992, qualified then as a paediatrcian and earned a PhD in Pediatric Gastro-Endocrinology. She worked as research fellow in 1994, 1997, 1998,1999 in London, St Bart’s Hospital, Division of Paediatric Endocrinology and Growth Factor Laboratory. She worked in the Department of Paediatrics in Parma until 2014 when she became head of the Division of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology and director of the Research Laboratory at the Research Institute and Teaching Hospital in Reggio Emilia. She moved back to the University of Parma in December 2021 and is currently associate professor and head of Paediatric Endocrinology. Prof Street has an active role in the Italian Societies for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology (ISPED), for Paediatrics (ISP), and Research in Paediatrics, in ESPE as a former Research unit convenor and currently as member of the Clinical Practice Committee and coordinator of the EDC Interest Group.

Terje Svingen

Prof. Svingen is Head of research group for Molecular & Reproductive Toxicology, focusing on how early-life exposure to endocrine disruptors can interrupt normal development and lead to disease. His group conducts basic research to uncover the molecular and cellular mechanisms of toxicological effects in mammals and develops methodologies for hazard identification, alongside providing expert advice on endocrine disruptors to regulatory agencies.
